Brewing Course

Enjoy a fascinating and interactive evening as you discover the basics of the complete craft brewing process taught by an experienced brewer. During this hands-on, 2 1/2 hour course you will gain knowledge and experience the brewing process: recipe formulation, weighing out malted grains and hops, grain milling, mashing, sparging, boiling and cooling wort, pitching hops, handling brewers yeast, fermentation, and packaging beer. Learn about the specific type of beer that you will be brewing. Enjoy appetizers and a beer tasting of commercial samples similar to the beer that is being produced. Best of all, four weeks after the course is finished, you will pick up a 500 ml sample of beer from Heritage Park that you personally brewed at the course.

Spinning Classes in 2012!

“Give it a spin!”
This three hour introduction to the drop spindle is designed for those who are interested in learning the technique .
At the end of the session you will receive a drop spindle and some fibre to practice at home.

Spin Me A Yarn- Beginner
Once you can “Spin a yarn” join us for the beginner level, which includes a brief discussion about the origin of wool, breeds of sheep, as well as carding and other fibre preparation. We will review some of the drop spindle technique but the Spinning Wheel will be our focus this class.

Spin Me A Yarn – Intermediate
Previous experience using a spinning wheel, as well as being comfortable with drafting is a pre-requisite for this intermediate level. The course will cover more advanced drafting techniques, and instruction on how to create and spin various fiber preparations, including batts and rolags.
